A Campus to Support Educating the Whole Child
Westerly School sees its role as a leading learning institution focused on developing each child’s full potential intellectually, emotionally, morally and physically.

Thus, the curriculum is carefully designed to support and create ongoing opportunities to educate the whole child, inspiring Westerly students to become successful, well-balanced citizens of the world in which they live

Those who visit Westerly School are often surprised at the spacious campus as it unfolds behind the first buildings on 29th Street. They are also surprised to see green space, trees, playgrounds and the expanse of grassy playfields. Westerly is fortunate to own a 5.5-acre campus and have it permanently zoned for institutional use by the City of Long Beach.

Current and future facilities make Westerly a visible, attractive and permanent campus in the greater Long Beach community.

School buildings are sited to resemble a child-scaled village where classrooms, studios and laboratories create a feeling of safety and community. Out-of-doors, there are installed playground equipment, lunch shelters, and an amphitheater large enough to seat the entire student body.

In addition, Westerly is “Sending Down Roots” and building for the future. Westerly’s philosophy calls for encouraging creative and independent thinking, cultivating an appreciation for the arts, and combining academics with experiential, hands-on learning. The new, under-construction Westerly Arts Village helps make that philosophy a reality.
