Giving and Getting Involved
at Westerly School

I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome all of our families to the 2007-08 school year.  I’d also like to thank all our families and friends that made last year a fundraising success!  The 2006-07 Annual Fund raised over $225,000. Then the 2007 Annual Auction, Westerly Goes to the Hop! raised $312,000 gross, netting over $250,000 to benefit the educational programs at Westerly.   This does not include the $96,000 raised in the matter of minutes to support Westerly’s technology program (Click here to download the full proposal - pdf).

How can we help?
We ask for our community’s support in two meaningful ways:
Financial Support
Tuition dollars alone cannot cover the cost of providing a well-balanced, challenging and diverse education to the students of Westerly, so fundraising is key to the fiscal health and long-term stability of the School. The Development Office, therefore, plans, supports and promotes school-wide fundraising efforts through the coordination of the Annual Auction, the Annual Fund, Grants, Major Gifts, Capital Campaigns and other special programs.
Active Participation
In addition to relying on donations Westerly relies on generous volunteers.   We invite parents to participate in the School life to better understand and support their child’s learning experiences -- perhaps by being involved in the classroom, attending School events, and volunteering at events.  Volunteering allows opportunities to get to know other parents, to stay involved with your student’s educational activities, and to support Westerly at the same time.  We also encourage grandparents, alumni, and alumni parents to participate and attend school events such as the music performances, athletic events and Graduation.
We invite you to join our esteemed list of supporters, who enable us to offer extraordinary and successful education opportunities.  We hope that you will become involved in a meaningful way and in doing so encourage others to do the same.
